What is Laser Therapy?
Laser Therapy or “photobiomodulation” is the use of specific wavelengths of light to create therapeutic effects. These effects include, but are not limited to, improved healing time, pain reduction, increased circulation, decreased swelling and vasodilation. We use the Berman Class IV 60 Watt Crystal Diode Laser at 980nm wavelength in our practice. It is an FDA cleared Class 4 laser. During each painless treatment, laser energy increases circulation, drawing water, oxygen and nutrients to the damaged area. Thus, an optimal healing environment is created that reduces inflammation, swelling, muscle spasms, stiffness and pain. In addition, the laser accelerates wound healing as well as produces singlet oxygen, which destroys infections.

A More Natural Approach
We at Advanced Foot Care Center have moved our practice to a more natural approach. We are employing a laser to treat pain, inflammation, arthritis, and fungus. Laser treatments are an alternative to prescription medications or NSAIDs. Furthermore, it can be used to avoid painful shots. The laser has allowed our patients to benefit from the advancing technology and science in the field of Podiatry. Patients report elimination of, or a great reduction in, pain and inflammation as quickly as one to six treatments. The natural approach has allowed patients to become ambulatory and resume normal activities much quicker than after surgery.
